What is the difference between hammer crusher and impact crusher?

19/02/2022 admin

Both the hammer crusher and the impact crusher use the impact principle to crush the material, and the finished product is granular. Although in terms of appearance, hammer crusher and impact crusher are somewhat similar, there are major differences between the two in many aspects.

Hammer Mill VS Impact Crusher

1. Differences in structure

Hammer crusher:

It is mainly composed of body, transmission device, rotor and so on. The transmission device includes a V-belt, a winding motor and a pulley. The rotor with hammer head is the part of the hammer crusher, and its surface has a layer of material to avoid excessive wear of the rotor.

Impact crusher:

The impact crusher is mainly composed of a frame, a transmission mechanism, an impact plate and a rotor. The frame is divided into upper and lower parts, which are connected by bolts in the middle. The impact plate is suspended inside the crushing chamber, and the plate hammer on the rotor is its main wearing part, and most of them are of integral cast steel structure.

2. Differences in principle

Hammer crusher:

The ore material entering the feed port of the crusher through the feeder is sub-crushed under the action of the high-speed rotating hammer head. After rebounding, the high-speed impact on the counterattack plate was further broken.

During the whole process, the ore is crushed many times, the qualified ore is discharged through the screen bar device, and the unqualified ore remains in the crushing chamber for crushing.

The large stones are crushed many times in the crushing cavity, and the qualified minerals are discharged in time without over-crushing.

Impact crusher:

The impact crusher is suitable for the secondary crushing link of the production line, mainly for fine crushing. The material that meets the feeding particle size enters the crushing cavity of the impact crusher through the feeding device, and the rotor runs continuously.

The material entering the crushing chamber first hits the rotating hammer, and is counterattacked at high speed to the counterattack plate, so that the crushed material is thrown to the counterattack plate at the other end of the crushing chamber at high speed along the tangential direction, and is crushed again. A piece of stone is broken for many times, and the broken stone is discharged in time.

3. Differences in the scope of application

Hammer crusher:

It is mainly used for coarse crushing and fine crushing of medium hardness materials such as limestone, gypsum, bricks, slag, coal gangue, salt, chalk and other materials in cement, chemical, electric power, metallurgy and other industries. It can directly crush materials with a large particle size of 600-1800 mm to below 25 or 25 mm.

Impact crusher:

Suitable for processing all kinds of coarse, medium and fine materials (granite, limestone, concrete, etc.) with side length less than 500 mm and compressive strength less than 350MPa. It is widely used in other fields and is an ideal processing equipment for aggregates.

Which is better, hammer crusher or impact crusher?

The advantage of hammer crusher

(1) The crushing ratio is large, the structure is simple, the maintenance is convenient, the product grain shape is good, and the phenomenon of over-powdering is small.

(2) The hammer crusher integrates the functions of coarse crushing and shaping, without sieve plate and material blocking.

(3) The output of a single machine can reach 3,000 tons per hour, which is beyond the reach of other types of crushers.

The advantage of impact crusher

(1) It has strong adaptability and can crush hard, soft, brittle and tough materials with large water content. Most of the crushed products are cubic with uniform particle size.

(2) The crushing ratio is large, generally 20-50, and the large one is more than 150. It can complete medium, fine or coarse, medium and fine crushing operations at one time, and the production process is greatly simplified.

Through the above introduction, it can be found that hammer crusher and impact crusher have different degrees of difference in structure, principle and scope of use. Both types of crushing equipment have their own advantages, and it is impossible to simply say which is better. If you have the need to purchase a crusher, SBM’s technicians will provide you with the appropriate type and model of equipment according to the actual situation.
