Kaolin Ultrafine Grinding Mill

03/08/2021 admin

Kaolin ultrafine grinding mill is a high-quality, high efficient industrial powder mill. It can grind kaolin into a fine powder (300-3000mesh). Above kaolin, it can also be used to grind other hard stones, such as talc, mica, vermiculite, barite, etc.

What is Kaolin?

Kaolin is a kind of clay and clay rock dominated by kaolinite clay minerals.

Pure kaolin is white, fine, soft, and soft, with good plasticity and fire resistance, and other physical and chemical properties, and it has a wide range of uses.

Mainly used in papermaking, ceramics, and refractory materials. Secondly, it is used as raw materials for coatings, rubber fillers, enamel glazes, and white cement raw materials.

And a small number of plastics, paints, pigments, grinding wheels, pencils, daily cosmetics, soap, pesticides, medicine, textiles, petroleum, chemical, building materials, national defense, and other industrial sectors.

Kaolin crushing and grinding process

Under the grinding of the kaolin ultrafine grinding mill, the raw kaolin ore can reach different specifications such as 100 mesh, 200 mesh, 325 mesh, 400 mesh, 500 mesh, 600 mesh, 800 mesh, 1200 mesh, 2500 mesh, etc.

It can not only be supplied to paper mills and ceramic factories but also can be used to produce lightweight coated paper, art paper, coated paperboard, floor tiles, sanitary ware, and other ceramic products.

From the perspective of the industry as a whole, the higher the fineness of the finished product processed by the kaolin mill, the higher the economic value.

1. Crushing stage:
Large pieces of material are crushed by the crusher to the fineness (15mm-50mm) that can enter the grinding mill.

2. Grinding stage:
Small pieces of material that meet the conditions for entering the grinding mill are uniformly and quantitatively fed into the grinding chamber of the mill through the conveying and feeding system, and pulverized in the grinding cavity.

3. Classification stage:
The ground material will be classified by the classifier along with the airflow of the system, and the unqualified powder will be classified by the classifier and returned to the main machine grinding cavity for re-grinding.

4. Powder collection stage:
The powder that meets the fineness enters the powder collection system with the airflow through the pipeline, and the gas and powder are separated. The finished powder is sent to the finished product silo by the conveying device and then is packaged by a powder tanker or an automatic baler.

Main Applications of Kaolin Powder

The status quo of comprehensive utilization of kaolin in 7 major application industries:

paper making

Paper industry

The amount of kaolin used in the paper industry far exceeds that of other industries. Kaolinite clay has a small particle size, good scale and flake The shape after peeling has a large diameter-thickness ratio and stable chemical properties. Therefore, it is used as a paper filler and paper coating to improve paper gloss and fill the gaps between paper fibers, increase opacity, etc.
Used as a filler, it can reduce the cost while improving the performance of the paper. As a coating material, it can improve the permeability and tolerance of the paper to the ink and the appearance of the paper.
The main requirements for kaolinite in papermaking are particle size and impurity content. The particle size is required to be less than 2μm and the whiteness is greater than 86%.

Kaolin can increase the content of Al2O3 in ceramics and make the formation process of mullite easier, thereby improving the sintering strength and stability of ceramics.
When sintering ceramics, kaolin decomposes mullite to form a green body frame. This process makes the ceramic green body not easy to be deformed and deformed. At the same time widens the firing temperature range, and improves the whiteness of the ceramic.
At the same time, kaolin has its own plasticity, cohesiveness, suspension, bonding, and other characteristics, so that the formability of porcelain clay glaze is improved, which is more conducive to the processing of card blanks, grouting, and ceramic molding.

Ceramic industry

Refractory industry

Kaolin has good fire resistance and is often used to produce refractory materials. Its products can withstand load without deformation at high temperatures.
Kaolin with kaolin as the main component, as well as bentonite and bauxite, etc., are collectively referred to as refractory clays according to their high-temperature resistance. Certain colored kaolin cannot be used in ceramics and papermaking, but it is a good raw material for refractory materials.
There are two main types of kaolin used as refractory products: refractory bricks and silicon aluminum wool.
The former has refractoriness of not less than 1730℃ and can be made into refractory bricks of various sizes and shapes as required.
The latter is a kind of lightweight refractory insulation material, which is kaolin roasted at 1000-1100°C. Then the ore is melted in an electric arc furnace at 2000°C, and blown into cotton under high-speed airflow.

Kaolin has been used as a filler for coatings and paints because of its white color, low price, good fluidity, stable chemical properties, and large surface cation exchange capacity.
Kaolin can be used to improve the brushability of coatings, the storage stability of the coating system, the moisture absorption and impact resistance of the coating, and the anti-floating and blooming properties of the pigment.
With the development of production, the requirements for the performance and durability of coatings are becoming stricter. For example, it is required to prepare low-VOC, high-solid coatings, thinner, flawless, smooth, and bright coatings. At this time, kaolin must be used as an additive.
Kaolin can be adapted to almost all coating systems, from primer to topcoat, all solid components, film thickness, and gloss.

Paint industry

Rubber industry

Kaolin is filled into the colloidal mixture of rubber to enhance the chemical stability, wear resistance, and mechanical strength of the rubber, and prolong the hardening time. It can also improve the rheology, mixing, and vulcanization properties of rubber. And increase the viscosity of unvulcanized products, and prevent dents, collapse, sagging, deformation, flat tubes, etc.

The water resistance, permeability, fire resistance, and chemical activity of kaolin rubber products have also been greatly improved. At the same time, kaolin can also be used as a filler in rubber, which can greatly reduce the cost without affecting the performance of the rubber.

The production of high-insulation cables requires excessive addition of electrical performance modifiers, and kaolin can be used as electrical performance modifiers. In plastic cables and insulating materials that require high electrical insulation properties, modified calcined kaolin needs to be added.
Kaolin has a very high resistivity after being calcined at an appropriate temperature. Kaolin’s porosity is different at different calcination temperatures. The voids have a certain adsorption effect on some of the more active and harmful components in the cable material, which can improve the insulation of the cable.
The surface modification of calcined kaolin can improve its dispersibility in polymer materials, enhance the performance of products. And produce a good bonding interface between organic polymer materials, modifiers and calcined kaolin. The calcined kaolin can be evenly dispersed in the cable and play a better role as a bridge.

Cable industry

Cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries

Kaolin can be used as an additive in cosmetics, which can enhance oil absorption and water absorption, enhance the affinity between cosmetics and the skin, and improve emollient function.

Kaolin can be used as a carrier and an auxiliary agent for the formation of pharmaceutical tablets in the field of medicine.
